Susannah C. Drake is the founding principal of DLANDstudio pllc, an interdisciplinary practice with offices in New York and Colorado.  Since 2005, she has taught at Harvard, IIT, FIU, CCNY, Syracuse University, Washington University in St. Louis, and The Cooper Union and was appointed Associate Professor at The University of Colorado Boulder in 2019. 


Susannah is a Fellow of the ASLA, received the AIA Young Architects Award and was recognized as an Architectural League Emerging Voice. She has received numerous grants and fellowships for adapting infrastructure corridors for storm water capture, climate resilience, and park creation. She is currently a peer advisor to the US State Department Bureau of Overseas Operations. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art and the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum.


Under her leadership DLANDstudio has earned significant recognition for innovative design and research including the AIA New Practices New York Award, Chicago Athenaeum Award, City, State, and National AIA and ASLA Awards as well as Design Excellence Recognition from the NYC Public Art Commission. DLANDstudio’s projects include RPA Bight Coastal Urbanism, Gowanus Tanks Park, QueensWay, MoMA Rising Currents, BQGreen, and Gowanus Sponge Park. 


Susannah received a BA from Dartmouth College in 1987 and MArch and MLA from the Harvard University GSD. She is a registered architect and a registered landscape architect.
